What We Think About Children in Worship
Pleasant Street United Methodist Church welcomes children of all ages in worship. We believe that faith is as much “caught” as it is “taught”. Kids understand the concrete more clearly than the abstract. For them the Christian life is learned largely through the example of others—by observing and imitating adults. Children learn how to worship by worshiping with the congregation. They learn what Christian community is by being an integral part of that community. They learn how loved and valuable they are to God by being loved and valued by the congregation.
When a child is baptized in our midst, the entire congregation makes a promise to nurture that child in the faith, demonstrate God’s love for them, surround them with a community of love and forgiveness, and pray for them. We take those promises seriously!
We invite all children to fully participate in the life of the church as they learn to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. We welcome them to join us in prayer and praise, in singing and sharing, and in the proclamation of God's Word and observance of the Sacraments.

Please Make Yourself Comfortable!
Parents are often concerned about their children becoming a distraction. We hope you won’t be embarrassed if your child talks, cries, fidgets, or makes noise. We understand that that’s what children do! If you or your child become uncomfortable, however, please feel free to use the children’s area at the back of the sanctuary. There you will find a rocking chair, books, coloring supplies, and quiet toys. If you need to leave the sanctuary for any reason, please feel free to do so and to come back whenever you are ready.
Children’s Bibles, crayons, and activity sheets related to the Bible reading of the day can be found on the table at the back of the sanctuary.
If you need a diaper changing table, there is a Koala Station in the nursery bathroom.

The congregation of Pleasant Street United Methodist church is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children and youth. All persons working with children or youth (whether paid or volunteer) are screened, trained, and undergo a criminal background check.
